Hey all,,
It's crazy to think you guys are doing summer stuff there. It's still pretty nice here, but we had one day of terrible rain, so I can tell winter's coming. Luckily for now, the rain isn't very often, but when it rains, it pours, as they say (I think someone says that.) I'm still working on the sleeping bag deal. I didn't end up searching last week like I thought I might. Hopefully today's the day. It's finally being cold enough to deserve it.
Sounds like everyone's seeing Toy Story 3. I'm really excited for that. I was tempted to get a picture book version of it at some roadside stand, but I decided I'm gonna wait to watch it when I get back.
Yeah, we had zone conference the other week with Presidente Da Silva. That happens every 6 weeks. We have interviews and lunch and training and stuff like that. Don't get too excited about Colvin's picture. I think I got cut half out of it. I told him you're reading his blog and he thought that was funny.
Re: World Cup. Luckily the US lost. If they had won, Uruguay and US would be playing and there would be no chance of talking to people, especially if we beat them. So that's our miracle of an otherwise rough week. Uruguay games are hard enough as it is. We usually try to do language study in the house or weekly planning during the games so we're not wasting time.
Questions:
1. What are your mission report goals? We have a few things that have become ´´Normas´´ or standards. About a year ago, it became a commandment for every companionship to get 140 contacts every week. A few weeks back, we got a new one because we're all getting the contacts. We now have the goal of 15 lessons with members present every week. It's really rough, especially in smaller areas. We have a good area for it, but we're still struggling with it a little. It requires a lot of planning to bring members with us. Other than that, we report lessons with out member, references contacted and recieved and stuff like it that. It's all in Preach My Gospel. I think chapter 8...
It's been a bit of a rough week in that we didn't meet the norma for lessons with member and no one came to church. We have some solid investigators, but they're not from here, so they go home to visit family and we don't see them for a few weeks. 3 people who were progressing and had a baptismal date are now out of town, so they couldn't come to church. One is even going to church with her family in Melo, but she's not here, so we can't teach her. We'll just have to see.
Thanks for everything,, everyone. Hope everyone is enjoying their summer. I'm enjoying my winter.
